Dr. Hillary Segl graduated from Bucknell University in 1983, then got her DVM degree from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. She has been a full-time small animal vet since graduation, and owner of Alpha Animal Hospital for the last 3 years. Before that, she was a relief vet in various practices in the metro area for 8 years. Her special interests include exotic animal medicine (especially reptiles), surgery and endoscopy. She is a member of the DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine, the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Vets, and the Association of Avian Vets. Until recently, she could be found volunteering at the Reptile Discovery Center of the National Zoo. Her other hobbies include quilting, reading (mysteries and scifi), skiing and cooking. Dr. Segl is married to Mike, a professional graphic artist: they have 11 pets at home, several of whom are rescued animals. The menagerie includes 2 spoiled cats, 5 snakes, and 4 lizards.
